Jude to Share Stage with Joe Satriani, Steve Lukather at Jason Becker Benefit Concert 3/26 /11
On Saturday, March 26, 2011, at renowned San Francisco music venue Slim's, Jude will join an all-star lineup of musicians for the Not Dead Yet Festival, a benefit concert on behalf of influential rock guitar hero Jason Becker, who has been living with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease) for the past two decades. In addition to Jude, the festival will feature performances by Joe Satriani, Steve Lukather, Bryan Kehoe, Vinnie Moore, Richie Kotzen, Michael Lee Firkins, Greg Howe, Jeff Watson, and Flametal. Jason Becker himself will be on hand and will do a special meet-and-greet for fans at 4:00pm on the day of the show. Proceeds from the already sold-out benefit, will be provided to Jason to help cover medical expenses.
"I am thrilled to be able to pay tribute to Jason and help raise money for him and the ALS cause by performing the great guitar parts he played on [the David Lee Roth song] 'It's Showtime!'" said Jude, who will be playing the song with Van Halen tribute band Hot For Teacher. "Jason was just 20 years old when he was diagnosed with ALS, and he was already one of the most amazing virtuosos rock guitar has already known. He has faced more adversity than most people will ever experience, yet it doesn't slow him down. He continues to be incredibly productive and lead a full life, releasing new music regularly and maintaining a huge community of fans, collaborators, and supporters. You don't have to be a guitar player to be greatly inspired by him."
