Jude Interviews Guitar Great Steve Lukather

Steve LukatherHaving sold 35 million albums and counting with Toto (the band he co-founded at age 19 in the late '70s), and having performed sessions and tours with everyone from Ringo Starr, Michael Jackson, and Don Henley to Boz Scaggs, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin, Steve Lukather is a true "guitarist's guitarist," and is respected worldwide.

Jude was thrilled to visit Lukather at his Hollywood home and interview the guitar legend for hours for the August 2013 issue of Guitar Player magazine. Jude remains honored to have written about Luke (as he's known to his friends) on multiple occasions, to have shared the bill with him at concert (they both performed at the 2011 Jason Becker's Not Dead Yet festival held in San Francisco), to have served with him as a co-judge at both Guitar Player magazine's 2005 Guitar Superstar contest at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and at Lee Ritenour's 2010 Six-String theory competition held in Santa Monica, and to be able to call Lukather a friend.

While the print article appears in the August 2013 issue of Guitar Player (available on newsstands as of July 2013), the outtakes are just as interesting as what was published—and far lengthier and more in-depth. For your reading pleasure, and to supplement the print story, here are 10,000 words of those aforementioned and very cool Luke outtakes, including fan questions submitted to the guitarist via Facebook.

You're welcome!
